Blake Swihart could begin the year in the minors

Blake Swihart has minor league options left, a situation that could work against him as his main competitors at catcher, Sandy Leon, and Christian Vazquez, are out of options, Jason Mastrodonato of the Boston Herald reports. (Boston Herald)
Fantasy Impact:
Swihart had moved to left field from catcher in 2016 but ended his season ended prematurely with an ankle injury in June. It would make sense for the Red Sox to have Swihart spend some time in the minors to get used to catching again. He won't have any value in redraft fantasy leagues but is worth a look in Dynasty leagues.
