Mookie Betts reaches twice as Sox take 1-0 division lead over Yanks

Mookie Betts was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a run scored against the Yankees in game one of the ALDS on Friday.

Fantasy Impact:

Betts doubled in the bottom of the third off of New York starter J.A. Happ and would later come around to score on a Steve Pearce single. He was also walked intentionally in the fourth. The run proved to be critical as the Sox managed to pull off game one by the skin of their teeth, with a 5-4 final score. Betts also just barely missed a spectacular double play opportunity when he covered what seemed like 50 yards on a third inning Andrew McCutchen fly to right. He recorded the out and in one motion spinned and fired a strike to Steve Pearce, albeit half a second late to double up Gleyber Torres attempting to return to first. Plays like that are why Betts will be your 2018 AL MVP.
