Carlos Martinez was ineffective on Saturday yet was buoyed by an ample amount of run support, as he yielded six hits, five earned runs, and five walks across five innings while improving his record to 3-4 on the season in a 9-8 win over the Rockies. Martinez recorded just two strikeouts on the afternoon.
Fantasy Impact:
Martinez had been on an absolute roll over his past three outings, but that was not the case on Saturday. Martinez struggled with his control and overall effectiveness but was still fortunate to pick up a victory. He now sits with a 4.35 ERA and 1.16 WHIP on the season. He'll have a tough matchup next weekend at San Diego and is not a recommended option for that matchup.
