Jose Berrios strikes out nine in win on Thursday

by Devon Bruce | Blue Jays Correspondent | Thu, Aug 18th 10:24pm EDT

Jose Berrios pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits and a walk while striking out nine during Toronto's win over New York on Thursday.

Fantasy Impact:

Berrios looked impressive against a slumping, but potent Yankees lineup, especially after his eight-run clunker last time out. He did commit a throwing error in the third inning that allowed the first run to cross home plate but was otherwise sharp inducing 14 swinging strikes, nine strikeouts and an elite 40 percent CSW over 95 pitches. Berrios has been a difficult pitcher to roster recently as he has been very inconsistent but hopefully, this start is the sign of an upward swing. With the win, he is now 9-5 with an unsightly 5.39 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 117 strikeouts across 24 starts. He'll next take the mound in a matchup against the Red Sox on Wednesday.
