Chris Davis' woes continue

by Chris Zolli | Sun, May 8th 6:01pm EDT

Chris Davis was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Sunday's 11-3 win for the Orioles against the Athletics. Even though Davis got on base, he is now 2-for-22 over the last seven days and now has a .200 batting average for the season. Davis does have a .759 OPS this season, as he has eight home runs for the Orioles.

Fantasy Impact:

A wise piece of advise was given to Davis while he developed into baseball's premier slugger: do what you can and don't stress too much; that advice has turned him into a 40-plus home run slugger, but has also seen him expose holes in his swing. Fantasy owners need to know that Davis is a violently streaky player and his power will create his value, as his eight home runs, 19 RBI, and 22 runs scored are very valuable for fantasy owners. Davis is worth owning if you can absorb his low batting average and streaky play, enjoying his power and patience (18 walks rank seventh in the American League).
