Kwang Hyun Kim
SP - STL
Expert NoteView More Notes
If you want upside with a late-round pitcher, you're looking in the wrong place with Kim. Although he put up a 1.62 ERA and 1.07 WHIP last year, his xFIP and SIERA were each about three runs higher than his ERA. He also struck out just 5.54 batters per nine innings, and never showed much strikeout potential in the KBO. That said, for a pitcher who is basically free in drafts, he offers some decent stability, and is worth taking late if you have an otherwise strong staff, particularly with strikeouts.

Kwang Hyun Kim takes no-decision in Game 1 win on Wednesday
Kwang Hyun Kim was handed a no-decision on Wednesday when he allowed three runs on five hits with two strikeouts and two walks over 3 2/3 innings in the Cardinals 7-4 win over the Padres.
Saint Louis provided Kim with plenty of run support right off the bat as they hung four runs on Chris Paddack in the first inning. While the 32-year old wasn't very sharp, he limited the Padres enough over his 3 2/3 innings before turning it over to the Cards bullpen that did a stellar job holding down the powerful San Diego lineup. The Cardinals now turn to the veteran Adam Wainwright in hopes of taking the series and advancing to the Divisional Round.
