Quarterback
Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons ($29)
@ Jacksonville Jaguars
Most of the fantasy world has decided that Matt Ryan is no longer a viable quarterback due to some poor performances over the last few weeks, but this week’s matchup offers some hope. By no means is Ryan a safe play due to Atlanta’s recent struggles on offense and therefore he should only be used in tournaments. There’s a chance he turns in an excellent performance this weekend considering that the Jaguars are allowing the second-highest fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks on the year, and Ryan still has top wideout Julio Jones to target.
Other notables:
- Alex Smith ($29)
- Ryan Tannehill ($28)
- Teddy Bridgewater ($24)
- T.J. Yates ($20)
Running Back
David Johnson – Arizona Cardinals ($17)
@ Philadelphia Eagles
Johnson has been quite impressive since taking over the Cardinals’ backfield in Week 13, amassing 243 all-purpose yards and one receiving touchdown. He is now set to take on a Philadelphia run defense that has been getting gashed by opposing running backs lately after starting the season on a strong note. The Eagles’ run defense is currently ranked 21st in the league in Football Outsiders’ DVOA. The Eagles will have their hands full with an explosive Arizona offense on Sunday, and the Cardinals should be in the red zone quite often in this game, giving Johnson a few shots at a goal line score.
Other notables:
- Latavius Murray ($22)
- Eddie Lacy ($17)
- Tim Hightower ($16)
- Denard Robinson ($14)
Wide Receiver
John Brown – Arizona Cardinals ($22)
@ Philadelphia Eagles
The Cardinals should be able to do anything they want against a paper-thin Philadelphia secondary that is allowing the second-most fantasy points per game to opposing receivers. Brown appears to be fully over a hamstring strain that bogged him down for the middle portion of his schedule as he has topped 78 receiving yards in three straight games. He will continue to split looks with Larry Fitzgerald and Michael Floyd, but the possibility for a multi-touchdown game looms for the speedy, second-year receiver. He’s worth a definite look, especially in tournament lineups.
Other notables:
- Michael Floyd ($23)
- T.Y. Hilton ($22)
- Randall Cobb ($21)
- Willie Snead ($16)
- Tyler Lockett ($15)
Tight End
Zach Miller – Chicago Bears ($13)
@ Minnesota Vikings
Look for Miller to stay hot against a Vikings’ pass defense that is ranked 24th in DVOA against tight ends this season. Miller has stepped in nicely for Martellus Bennett, who was lost to a season-ending injury last week. In Week 14, Miller caught five passes for 85 yards and one touchdown against a Washington defense that has done a good job limiting opposing tight ends this season.
Other notables:
- Ben Watson ($17)
- Eric Ebron ($12)
- Will Tye ($10)
Defense
New York Jets ($11)
@ Dallas Cowboys
The New York defense remains a great value on Yahoo as it has been for most of the season. They will be taking on Matt Cassel and a Dallas offense that has really struggled to score points and move the ball since losing Tony Romo on Thanksgiving Day. Turnover-prone Cassel has thrown 76 career interceptions in 98 games played. In addition, the Cowboys will likely struggle to get anything going on the ground against an elite Jets’ run defense.
Other notables:
- New England Patriots ($12)
- Jacksonville Jaguars ($11)
- Buffalo Bills ($10)
