FanDuel NFL Lineup Advice: Week 16 (Sat)
Julian Edelman

Julian Edelman has a safe floor with high upside in a solid Week 16 matchup

Welcome to the Week 16 NFL FanDuel lineup article. This article will focus on the main slate on FanDuel which features 12 games. For the first time in a  few weeks we do not have to pay up at both running back positions in cash games. With that being said, let’s go ahead and take a look at my FanDuel cash game lineup for Week 16.

Quarterback

Drew Brees (NO): $8,500 vs. TB
Brees was able to bounce back from two down weeks in a row in a huge way in Week 15 throwing for 389 yards and four touchdowns against the Cardinals. Now he returns home, where he has historically done much better than on the road, in a decent matchup against the Buccaneers. Brees should be extremely chalky in cash games this week, so you may want to lock him into your lineup so you are not playing catch up if he does, in fact, have another huge game.

Other Notables

Running Back

LeSean McCoy (BUF): $9,100 vs. MIA
It feels like it has been awhile since I have recommended a cash game running back not named Le’Veon Bell or David Johnson. Since Bell is playing on Sunday and Johnson has a tough matchup against Seattle, McCoy is the clear top cash game option on FanDuel. McCoy had a huge game against the Browns last week with a total of 169 yards and two touchdowns. Although the matchup is not as great this week, it’s certainly not terrible against the Dolphins who are middle of the pack at best against the run.

Jordan Howard (CHI): $7,200 vs. WAS
Despite the Bears being down for most of the game and Howard exiting early briefly with an injury, Howard was still able to manage a heavy workload of 21 touches and gain 113 yards with a touchdown. The Bears will probably want to control the clock as much as possible in this game against the Redskins, so Howard should see another heavy workload in a great matchup. The Redskins have allowed the fourth-most FanDuel points to opposing running backs this season.

Other Notables

Wide Receiver

Julian Edelman (NE): $6,7000 vs. NE
Tom Brady only completed 16-of-32 passes for 188 yards last week in a matchup against a tough Broncos’ defense. This impacted his receivers as well, but Edelman still had a respectable game catching six of his 12 targets for 75 yards. I would say that is about where his floor is this week, with even greater upside against the Jets, who have been terrible in the secondary this season.

Michael Crabtree (OAK): $6,200 vs. IND
Crabtree bounced back last Sunday with six receptions, 60 yards and a touchdown against the Chargers. He should have another solid game this week since he is projected to line up against Vontae Davis for most of the game. Despite being great in the past, Davis has been horrendous this season ranking 109 out 120 cornerbacks according to Pro Football Focus’ grades.

Michael Thomas (NO): $6,900 vs. TB
Brandin Cooks may have been the one with the huge game against the Cardinals in Week 15, but Thomas also did well with seven receptions, 52 yards and a touchdown. Thomas has been the most consistent receiver in this Saints offense, so he is the one I trust the most for cash games this week. Thomas has a decent matchup against the Buccaneers, who despite playing well in recent weeks do not have a great defense.

Other Notables

Tight End

Cameron Brate (TB): $5,600 at NO
Brate continued his break-out season catching five of his eight targets for 73 yards and a touchdown against the Cowboys. Brate now has seven touchdowns this season, and he will look to build on this excellent season in Week 16 against the Saints, which should be a high-scoring game.

Other Notables

Kicker

Stephen Gostkowski (NE): $4,800 vs. NYJ
Gostkowski is one of the most accurate kickers in the league, and the potency of the Patriots’ offense always gives him plenty of opportunities to kick multiple field goals in every game. Currently, the Patriots have the highest total on the board for this week and the matchup could not be any better against the Jets, who have been dreadful on defense this season.

Other Notables

D/ST

San Diego Chargers: $4,900 at CLE
Normally I do not like to target defenses on the road, but this is definitely an exception to that rule since the Browns are so bad on offense allowing the third-most FanDuel points to opposing defenses this season. The Chargers are not a great defense, but they still are capable enough of getting some sacks on Robert Griffin III and possibly getting some takeaways.

Other Notables

  • Packers (GB): $4,600 vs. MIN
  • Patriots (NE): $5,000 vs. NYJ
