Daily Pitcher Overview 7/17 (Start/Sit, Streamers, DFS)

Today’s 13-games are an utter disaster for pitchers. There are just eight potentially start-worthy arms going, as it typical four days after the all-star break ends. Today, I’ll help you pick the safest poison in case you need a streamer, help you target the right DFS cash game and GPP plays, then give you all my start/sit recommendations.

Top Streamer

Josh Tomlin (CLE @ SFG)

The streamer options today are a disaster, and while the chart will point you to two other pitchers before Tomlin, my discretion trusts him a little more to not blow up. Pitching in San Francisco, runs should be minimized even without the dreadful Giants lineup opposing him. Add in that he has the lowest walk rate in the league and it sounds like a recipe for mediocrity, which on today’s slate, takes the cake.

Top DFS Cash Game Option

Lance McCullers (HOU vs SEA)

Had Stephen Strasburg qualified for the late slate, McCullers would still be the pick. The Astros are far and away the biggest favorite on the slate, and McCullers has been positively dominant at home for almost every game this season. Seattle has some boppers in their lineup and isn’t the easiest team to pile up double-digit Ks against, but he should be 80% owned this evening and for good reason.

Top DFS Tournament Option

Jake Odorizzi (TBR @ OAK)

Odorizzi has struggled since coming off of the DL a month ago, but it is his contract year and he has double-digit strikeout upside so I’m crossing my fingers from a big post-all-star break bounceback. Getting the A’s in Oakland is a nice help tonight, and the $7,500 price tag for the #4 pitcher on the slate today doesn’t hurt either.

Start/Sit Table

Guide

*All stats based on our daily projections
OWN – ownership % between ESPN and Yahoo!
Score – Based on an algorithm that weighs if their ratios are too high to offset the odds of them getting a win and add strikeouts to your team totals
Recommendation – For Roto and H2H season-long leagues
DFS Cash – Not based on value, but performance only. Heavily favors ratios and odds at getting the win and quality start
DFS GPP – Not based on value, but performance only. Built to focus more on strikeout potential and stamina
*The table is sorted by their season-long fantasy appeal
