There are a few tantalizing aces toeing the bump, but the apple of my eye is a pricey three-man stack that necessitates spending down a bit at pitching. With that in mind, I’m suggesting mixing a handful of affordable pitchers and a couple of highlighted bargain hitters around the high-octane stack I love tonight. Typically, I’d highlight three pitching options in this piece, but I’m juggling a quartet tonight. Three of the pitchers are priced between $8,200 and $8,800, making them easily interchangeable around the core of hitters suggested. The fourth is a sub-$7,500 bargain option opposing one of the aces starting tonight.

Frankie Montas (OAK): $8,800 at Tigers
In eight starts spanning 45.1 innings this year, Montas has totaled a solid 3.83 SIERA, per FanGraphs. He’s struck out a respectable 22.0% of the batters he’s faced while limiting free passes (5.8% BB%) and inducing grounders aplenty (51.9% GB%). Montas and the A’s are -148 favorites, per Pinnacle, and Detroit’s team over/under total of only 3.5 runs isn’t scary in the slightest bit. Speaking of the Tigers and not scary, their offense has been toothless against right-handed pitchers this year. They rank tied for 27th in wRC+ (73) against righties while punching out and the third highest clip (26.3%) against them in 2019. Montas is the most expensive of the arms touted in this piece, and he’s also my favorite option of the bunch.
