Fantasy Baseball Streaming Hitters: Week 12

The schedule is out of control with games in Week 12, so let’s jump right into it. Our goal is to maximize games by taking advantage of the slate. Here is a look at this week.

A Look at the Schedule

Week 12 features a massive slate of games. Twenty-one teams (Orioles, Reds, Indians, Astros, Royals, Angels, Dodgers, Marlins, Brewers, Twins, Mets, Yankees, Athletics, Phillies, Giants, Mariners, Cardinals, Rays, Rangers, Blue Jays, Nationals) have seven games this week. Conversely, three organizations (White Sox, Tigers, Pirates) play just five games. The remaining six teams have six contests.

Streaming gets a whole lot tougher in a week like this. With a majority of the league playing seven times, your roster should be all top-100 players or guys playing a full schedule. I would sit all Tigers, White Sox, and Pirates except Starling Marte in categories leagues. Replace them with a seven-game option. Here is a look at the top adds owned in under 50 percent of Yahoo Leagues.

Top Pickups

Adam Eaton (OF – WSH): 48% owned
Injuries have made Eaton an underrated player. He is a career .285 batter with a .363 OBP. This season, he already has six homers and five steals.

The Nationals have seven home games in Week 12, hosting the Phillies for four before having a weekend set against Atlanta. They are scheduled to face six right-handed starters, and Eaton is a career .287/.366/.433 hitter against righties. Expect a strong week from the outfielder.

David Fletcher (2B/3B/SS/OF – LAA): 44% owned
Fletcher dealt with a minor shoulder injury in Week 11 but appears healthy heading into the new set of matchups. Batting .306/.361/.432 with four homers and five steals, he is a talented hitter with multi-position eligibility. At age 25, he should only continue improving, so add Fletcher if you need help, especially in the middle infield.

Oscar Mercado (OF – CLE): 17% owned
Mercado is a 24-year-old prospect who could potentially swipe 30 bases with 20 home runs in a full season. He’s had a strong start with the Indians since his call-up, batting .277 with three homers and two steals in just 23 games. The talented youngster should keep getting better.

Cleveland travels to Texas for four games against the Rangers before coming home to face Detroit. Mercado faces plenty of favorable matchups this week, making him a quality add.

Yandy Diaz (1B/3B – TB): 34% owned
The underrated Diaz already has a career-high 10 home runs while batting .273/.353/.483. He continues to hit well for Tampa Bay, yet he is still just 34 percent owned.

The Rays are on the road this week for three games against the Yankees before traveling to Oakland for four. Tampa Bay is scheduled to face four lefties in Week 12, too, and Diaz crushes lefties. For his career, the 27-year-old is batting .307/.401/.446 and four home runs in 192 plate appearances against them. Add Diaz if your squad is looking for a corner infielder in Week 12.

Scott Kingery (3B/SS/OF – PHI): 46% owned
The Andrew McCutchen injury has pushed Kingery into everyday at-bats, and the talented youngster continues to deliver. He has seven homers and two steals while batting .315/.356/.613 in 118 plate appearances on the year. He won’t stay that good, but ride the hot hand.

Kolten Wong (2B – STL): 21% owned
Wong is having a strong season, batting .240 with six homers and 11 steals, so far.

Week 12 should be fantastic for him. The Cardinals have seven home games, hosting the Marlins for four and the Angels for three. Neither brings in a strong pitching staff. Wong has a better career batting average and OBP against righties as well as 55 of his 70 career steals. Grab the Cardinals second baseman if you are looking for middle infield help this week.

Cavan Biggio (2B – TOR): 11% owned
Biggio has only 57 plate appearances to his big league career thus far, but he has already produced three homers and two steals despite hitting just .178.

Toronto hosts the Angels for four games in Week 12 before heading to Boston to face the Red Sox. Biggio had 26 homers and 20 steals in Double-A in 2018. His power-speed combo is intriguing, so feel free to take a chance on the 24-year-old.
