We’re now through the grueling part of the preseason where we’d hoped to make it through without any significant injuries. Unfortunately, this weekend brought more news than any of us had hoped.
First, it was watching Lamar Miller go down with an ugly knee injury that turned out to be a torn ACL. The Texans traded for Duke Johnson just a short time ago, meaning he walks into a role that netted Miller 18.4 touches per game over the last three years. While it seems likely the Texans will add another running back to the roster, Johnson skyrockets up draft boards.
Then came the biggest blow that affected players throughout the rankings; Andrew Luck’s surprise retirement from the game of football. There are some who believe the Colts will still be a potent offense with the coaching of Frank Reich and the sturdy offensive line, but as you’ll see in the rankings below, I’m hesitant in putting my faith in Jacoby Brissett. While you shouldn’t automatically erase those players from your board, moving them down would be wise.
