The Arizona Fall League showcases some of baseball’s finest prospects that are progressing through their club’s farm system.
Today, in the first of two articles, I will feature alum from the recent Fall League worthy of fantasy consideration. Note: They are not listed in any particular order.
The expected year of entrance to MLB is noted. That means an arrival at any point during that season. Some players will be immediately useful in redraft leagues while others will warrant dynasty/keeper consideration.

In this scout’s opinion, Lewis was the best athlete in the 2019 AFL. His game mechanics are improving, with great eye-hand coordination and outstanding agility and flexibility. He can play the OF, SS, 3B and 2B if needed. Excellent hit tool and terrific speed form winning combination. Power is improving as well. His versatility is a huge asset-especially in fantasy. Exciting.
- Age 20
- Bats: Right
- 6-3, 215 (2020)
Adell should become the Angels starting right fielder sooner than later. He can do it all. He hits the gaps and has home run power. Batting average is a plus. Runs enough to steal bases. Teaming with Trout, Rendon and Upton can make him lethal in the Angels lineup. He has All-Star potential, but he will need repetition. Strong.
- Age: 22
- Bats: Left
- 6-4, 215 (2021)
Marsh can easily win a spot alongside Trout and Adell in the near future. He uses his huge frame well, hitting for enough power to be an interesting component of the Angels lineup. Marsh runs very well for a big man, making stolen bases a real possibility for his profile. His swing is almost flawless with a good path through the ball as he makes solid contact. Sleeper.
- Age: 19
- Bats: Right
- 6-4, 225 (2022)
Ranked higher by most analysts than by this scout, Rodriguez will become a force in the Mariners lineup. He’s improving quickly, with good hitting mechanics and a solid foundation of above-average skills. Possible difficulty with breaking balls remains a concern for this writer. Still a bit raw, there is little doubt about his hitting tool and power. Lacks speed. Ultimate star.
- Age: 21
- Bats: Switch
- 5-9, 155 (2021)
A native of the Dominican, Brujan may soon be knocking on the Rays door. He has tremendous grade 70 speed with an outstanding hit tool. Don’t expect power. A switch-hitting contact hitter, Brujan is better as a left-handed, long side of the platoon hitter. An outstanding athlete, it won’t surprise if Brujan sees outfield time. Huge upside.
- Age: 22
- Bats: Left
- 5-11, 183 (2021)
Speed is his best tool, but he can hit for average as well. Not much power at all, with little upside in that category. Looks like a CF or possible second baseman for the future. Takes the ball up the middle well and can be a table-setter at the top of the order. Has to remain in a smaller game rather than hunt home runs. His value is in his ability to get on base and steal. Can hit the gaps.
- Age: 21
- Bats: Left
- 6-2, 185 (2021)
Coming off thumb surgery, Jones has a future with the Indians. He is a solid player, but he doesn’t have any one particularly outstanding tool to carry him forward. Will be an average defender at best with a good arm. Not as much power as one might like at 3B. A good athlete, Jones has to learn to wait back on pitches and use his entire body in his swing. Indians shouldn’t rush him.
- Age: 22
- 6-7, 195 (2020)
Whitley has been a puzzle to the Astros and to this scout. I have scouted plenty of him on the mound. Big fastball that can sit in the high 90’s with no trouble. Solid curve and slider that are both above average in quality. Capable of massive strikeouts, but capable of massive walks as well. Has to corral his command and control. Changeup can be an out pitch. Has All-Star potential. Puzzling.
- Age: 23
- 6-6, 190 (2020)
Lynch is impressive due to solid command and control, both rare for young left-handed starters. He throws a solid fastball that is well above average in addition to secondary pitches that include a curve, slider and changeup. He can finish a hitter with any pitch in his repertoire and can be counted upon for strikeouts. A starter, Lynch is composed on the mound. Deceptive.
Shane Baz (RHP – TB)
- Age: 20
- 6-2, 190 (2021)
Acquired from the Pirates, Baz has a good arsenal of fastball, slider, and changeup, but his control is an issue. He has to learn to repeat his delivery and throw more strikes. Too many walks have hurt him. Still developing.
