by Mike Maher | Angels Correspondent | Mon, May 29th 7:43pm EDT

Mike Trout (thumb) is headed to the disabled list for the first time in his career. Trout left Sunday's game early with a thumb injury after sliding into second base. He had undergone an MRI Monday after injuring his left thumb in game action on Sunday, revealing a torn thumb ligament, (Maria I. Guardado on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

This is obviously a huge blow to the Angels and to fantasy owners everywhere. Trout has never spent time on the disabled list in his career, and it sounds like this injury will keep him out for at least a few weeks, at a minimum. Surgery is on the table at this point, but a decision has yet to be made. If he does end up going under the knife, it is reasonable to expect that he could miss a significant amount of time.
