CC Sabathia shuts down Red Sox

CC Sabathia pitched six shutout innings in the first game of a doubleheader against the Red Sox on Sunday, allowing just two hits. Sabathia walked five and struck out three, winning his sixth decision in his last seven. He has a 3.54 ERA this season and will face the Mariners in Seattle on July 21.

Fantasy Impact:

Sabathia may have walked five batters, but his scoreless appearance is his second straight against the Red Sox. Eight walks in 8 1/3 innings since returning from the disabled list is not a good sign, but his 1.27 WHIP and .237 batting average allowed both are playable. Current Mariners have a .551 OPS in 112 career at-bats against Sabathia and he is 5-2 with a 2.34 ERA on the road this season.
