Jarlin Garcia lost his first game of the season Monday, allowing seven earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings. It was easily the worst outing of the season for the young left-hander, and the loss was his first.
The seven runs Garcia allowed on Monday are more than he allowed in all of his other starts and appearances combined. His ERA jumped from 1.09 to 2.68 due to the bad outing, though he was never expected to keep up that pace for an extended period of time. He is currently scheduled the Atlanta Braves and top pitching prospect Mike Soroka at home in his next start.
