Mike Fiers earns ninth win

Mike Fiers (9-3) pitched 7 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing only eight hits and a walk while striking out four to earn the win in Friday's 5-1 win over the White Sox.

Fiers has tossed nine consecutive quality starts, and had his longest outing since his no-hitter back on May 7. He owns a 3.61 ERA, and a 1.11 WHIP with 74 strike outs in 114 2/3 innings pitched for the Athletics this season. Fiers is on fire and his next scheduled start will come Thursday, away against the Twins.
