Luke Voit lands on injured list with sports hernia

Yankees first baseman Luke Voit was placed on the injured list on Wednesday with a sports hernia, the team announced on Twitter. Manager Aaron Boone said Voit could require surgery to address the injury, which could keep the first baseman on the shelf for several weeks. (Yankees PR on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
This is a blow to the Yankees and to fantasy owners, but lucky for New York, Voit's injury occurred a day before the training deadline. The Yankees desperately need starting pitching help more than anything else, but they may decide to dip into the market for hitters if they find a price and a player that they like. Justin Smoak of the Blue Jays is one name who could fit in New York. Look for an update on Voit's status in the coming days as the Yankees have reportedly not decided on surgery yet.
