Masahiro Tanaka pitched six innings and took the loss against Oakland on Thursday, giving up five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five.

Tanaka has been frustrating this season as he has been inconsistent alternating good starts with bad. With the loss, the veteran righty is now 9-7 with a 4.68 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 26 starts overall. Tanaka faces the Mariners in his next start on Tuesday.
