Fantasy Impact:

The injury is more serious than was initially thought as he was described as having "calf-tightness" and was considered day-to-day earlier on Wednesday. The good news is that he won't require surgery but the bad news is that this turns into a "week-to-week" situation per Mets manager Luis Rojas. He will likely be on the injured list for quite some time and with the 2020 season being truncated this puts his entire year in jeopardy. The Mets have not made public their plans for replacing Stroman but there are several outcomes they can choose from. They may go with a four-man rotation and use an opener/bullpen combination every fifth day or go with a replacement starter like Erasmo Ramirez, Corey Oswalt, or David Peterson. Top prospect Peterson would be the most intriguing option from a fantasy perspective. The team has stated that Seth Lugo is not an option at this time and will remain in the bullpen for high-leverage situations.
