Paul Goldschmidt cranks first home run of the season in win over Nationals

by Lucas Spence | Cardinals Correspondent | Wed, Apr 14th 12:03am EDT

Paul Goldschmidt hit his first home run of the season on Tuesday, connecting for a solo shot in the first inning against Stephen Strasburg before later adding a two-run single as part of the Cardinals nine-run fifth inning. Goldschmidt finished the night 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.

Fantasy Impact:

After a four-hit performance on Opening Day, Goldy had been slumping (.231 AVG, .568 OPS) entering Tuesday, so hopefully tonight’s performance will get him going. Goldschmidt had more RBI tonight (3) than he had through his first nine games (2).
