Marlins 1B/OF Garrett Cooper is heading towards season-ending surgery on his elbow after receiving several medical opinions. There is a partial tear on his UCL in his non-throwing arm. The surgery is similar to what Rhys Hoskins underwent last season with a recovery timeline of 3-4 months. (Craig Mish on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Cooper hasn't played since July 18 and was dominating in July with a .351 batting average and 1.111 OPS. He finished with a career-best 10.8% barrel rate, 114 mph maximum exit velocity, and 52.7% hard-hit rate. Keep Cooper in mind heading into 2022 redraft leagues given the batted ball profile.
