Carlos Martinez: 2022 option declined by St. Louis

The Cardinals have declined a $17.5 million club option on pitcher Carlos Martinez. Instead, they'll buy out the remainder of his deal at just $500,000. (Derrick Goold on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Martinez, 30, has spent all of his nine-year MLB career with the Cardinals. He went 4-9 with a shaky 6.23 ERA and 5.08 xFIP through 82.1 innings this past season before tearing a ligament in his thumb. He'll likely have to settle for a one-year prove-it deal this offseason.
