Kevin Gausman pitched five innings, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out 10 during Toronto's obliteration of Boston on Friday.
Gausman was absolutely dealing in a game that he was never at risk of losing, as he struck out 10 while the team produced a franchise-high 28 runs scored. He was able to induce 18 swinging strikes, an excellent 30 percent CSW on 108 pitches, and had an increase in velocity across all three pitches in his arsenal. Gausman and the Blue Jays couldn't have asked for a better game coming out of the All-Star break and should continue to roll in the second half. With the win, he is now 7-7 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and superb 116:18 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 18 starts. Gausman will next toe the rubber in a matchup against the Tigers on Thursday.
