Joe Ryan struggled in his Friday outing against the Detroit Tigers, surrendering four earned runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out six over 5 1/3 innings.
Fantasy Impact:
Despite his less-than-stellar performance, Ryan's season metrics still paint a picture of a high-upside pitcher. His ERA ticked up to 3.57, but with a solid 1.06 WHIP and an impressive 11.9 K/9, he remains a valuable asset in fantasy leagues, especially for strikeouts, recording at least six in each of his last three starts for the Twins. His FIP at 2.29 suggests that he's been pitching better than his traditional stats might indicate and should remain a trustworthy starting option for fantasy managers as the season moves forward.
