Carlos Gomez

Carlos Gomez hitless again

Carlos Gomez was 0-for-4 in the Astros' 8-2 win over the Royals on Monday, his third 0-fer this season. Gomez has a .200 batting average this season with 10 strikeouts in 25 at-bats.

Fantasy Impact:

The Astros added Gomez to solidify the center field position, but Gomez has thrived neither in 2015 nor 2016, as the 30-year-old had a .671 OPS with the Astros in 2015 and a .480 OPS in 2016. Gomez does have two doubles this season, but the Astros thought that they were adding the player with back-to-back 20/30 seasons in 2013 and 2014 when they traded for Gomez at the trade deadline in 2015. Preston Tucker has a 1.345 OPS in 15 at-bats this season and Evan Gattis is returning from the DL, putting more pressure on Gomez to perform. Fantasy owners need to monitor the approach of the free swinging Gomez and hope that he keeps his at-bats.
