Jhonny Peralta could begin a rehab assignment as soon as this week. He's expected to remain the team's starting SS when he returns from injury. (KMOX Sports on Twitter)

Despite the hot start of Aledmys Diaz, Peralta will remain the team's starter. Diaz's start was unexpected offensively, but the team has said that it will continue providing the younger player at-bats at other positions. This is good news for Peralta, though owners will want to see how he is able to return from the thumb injury which could sap power from the hitter.
