Evan Longoria blasts clutch three-run home run versus Mariners

by Mike Werner | Wed, Jun 15th 12:31am EDT

Evan Longoria only went 1-for-4 on Tuesday night, with the lone hit being a three-run home run in helping the Rays tie, and eventually win against the Mariners by a score of 8-7.

Fantasy Impact:

With the Mariners extending their lead to 7-4 earlier in the seventh inning, the Rays tried their best to answer. However, with two outs and only the speed-challenged Curt Casali on base, things were looking grim. That was until Brad Miller walked to bring Evan Longoria up to the plate, who took the first pitch he saw from reliever Nick Vincent on the outside corner, and deposited it into the left field seats to tie the game. The home run was Longoria's 16th of the season, and seventh of June, putting him fourth among all third baseman in that category. He's also hitting .349/.417/.860 this month, pushing his season line to .279/.331/.541. Longoria is currently on pace to hit 42 home runs and drive in 105, figures that he obviously won't obtain. However, this could be the first season since 2013 that he eclipses 30 home runs and 90 RBI, putting him squarely among the top-10 third baseman in fantasy.
