Eligibility
Righties Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez and Phillippe Aumont have been outrighted off of the 40 man roster to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
Fantasy Impact
Both players received ample opportunities this spring to make the club and neither found much success. Avoid both players in all format.
Despite allowing 4 runs on 8 hits across 4 innings in Wednesdays exhibition game against the Houston Astros, Gonzalez appears to still be in contention for the 5th starters spot. This is a result of the Phillies lack of depth than anything Gonzalez has shown since he arrived in Philly.
Fantasy Impact
At this point, it is hard to say if Gonzalez can contribute in any categories to your fantasy team and should be avoided by all owners. Nothing to this point in Gonzalez's performance suggests he can contribute to a fantasy team in any category of scoring.
After getting roughed up earlier this Spring, Gonzalez managed to get through 3 1/3 innings while only giving up 1 run on 5 hits. This was a solid bounce back after giving up 7 runs in his first 7 inning this Spring.
Fantasy Impact
Well the Phillies rotation gets murkier by the day as injuries as well as performances continue to come and go. At this point, Gonzalez is most likely still on the outside looking in but the gap between himself and the 5th spot is closing.
In his second trip to the hill this Spring, Gonzalez suffered a knee contusion after a line drive by Jose Iglesias caught him in the leg during the 3rd inning. Prior to his exit, Gonzalez pitched 2 innings while giving up 3 runs on 5 hits.
Fantasy Impact
Even as the Phillies pitching rotation grows easier to break into by the day, Gonzalez appears to be pitching his way right out of the conversation. At this rate, Gonzalez is likely to begin the year at AAA Lehigh Valley. Don't expect to find fantasy value out of this Cuban import.
In two innings of work today, Gonzalez allowed 2 earned runs including a home run to Astros' 3B Luis Valbuena while striking out a single hitter.
Fantasy Impact
Already considered to be on the outside looking in, Gonzalez's Spring debut wasn't horrible but if he is going to make his way into the Phillies' rotation, and by extension fantasy relevance, Gonzalez will have to put together a strong resume in the Grapefruit League.
