Robinson was disappointing last season to say the least, 55/754/4. Had a single game in 13 half ppr contests with over 14 fantasy points. Now he is being selected as a low end WR2 and that is too rich for my liking. He has not produced up to par for years now.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
The 49ers running back situation is fluid, but I think Coleman becomes the lead back in Kyle Shanahan's offense. He would be a RB3 with some upside in a great offense for running backs.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
The 49ers will probably use all of their backs, but I still love Coleman's upside in this system. I'll be getting some shares and hoping he makes the most of his touches
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Robinson led the Bears in targets last year despite playing in just 13 games, and had a big playoff performance with 10 catches for 143 yards and a touchdown. Now, in his second year playing with Mitchell Trubisky in Matt Nagy's system and another year removed from his ACL tear, some growth should certainly be expected. Don't let last year's "disappointing" season allow you to let Robinson fall too far. He should be a relatively reliable starting wide receiver in all fantasy formats.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
If we forget his one big season from FOUR years ago, ARob has averaged 4 TDs in his other three healthy seasons. Last season, he had over 6 catches ONE time and scored a TD in only four games. He'll see consistent targets, making him a WR3, but not much more.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
This 49ers offense is so difficult to figure out. We know they will succeed in running the ball since Shanahan is pulling the strings, but who the primary back will be, if there is one at all, is anyone's guess. Coleman does come with substantial upside and is currently the starter but there is much more risk than anyone else in the top 30 RBs.Robinson may have disappointed last year but let's remember that he was coming into a new offense with limited pre-season work due to his significant injury. He missed some time but still led the team in targets and may bounceback to his former WR1 self with a fully healthy season in this up-and-coming offense.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
It's been reported that one of Coleman/McKinnon/Breida will be inactive each week during the regular season. Breida proved to be a valuable asset last season, and assuming McKinnon is fully recovered from his torn ACL (he should be, but will get stronger as the season progresses), then it's entirely possible that Coleman is a healthy scratch some weeks this year. That's going to be frustrating for fantasy, but you can also look at it a different way. Yes, you might be upset 90 minutes before his start time (often the late start), but if they're only using two backs...then it's no longer a committee. If the only active backs heading into a week are Coleman and McKinnon...then Coleman is going to be a RB 2. That's a value for where you're getting him in drafts. I do expect Coleman to be active the most out of this group...although Breida is a great RB, and there will be plenty of weeks where the both of them are active. Ultimately, this is a situation where you're betting on the 49ers offense in the mid portion of your draft. And I'm more than ok with that. They got very unlucky last season, and should be around 8-8 to 9-7 this year. I'm very excited to see the offense this year, as I think they're going to surprise people,Robinson is a very uninspiring pick this season. He's on a good offense, with a good QB and a good OC. The problem is all the talent around him. They have Cohen/Gabriel/Miller, who are all capable pass catchers, but Montgomery can also catch passes, Burton is a solid receiving threat, and Patterson will be used on designed plays. I have Robinson projected to see a 20% target market share...and I really can't increase it much from there. That sort of volume gives him the 44th highest projection among WR's. That's not going to cut it for me. I'll happily pass on him in the middle rounds of drafts.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
If anyone outside of Kyle Shanahan tells you what to expect out of the 49ers backfield, they're lying to you. Don't forget with even less talent on the roster last year, you couldn't figure out if it would be Matt Brieda, Alfred Morris, or Raheem Mostert. We now add Coleman, who had his best years under Shanahan, and Jerick McKinnon, who will be returning from a torn ACL. It's likely to be a timeshare, though there will be valuable weeks among them, and Coleman figures to lead the chargeIt's tough to know how you should value Robinson, as he was coming off a torn ACL in 2018, joining a new team with a new quarterback, and learning a new offense. With that being said, he'll likely be a bit more inconsistent than he was in Jacksonville due to the number of weapons the Bears have available. Between him, Anthony Miller, Taylor Gabriel, Trey Burton, Tarik Cohen, and David Montgomery, you may be stuck with some lackluster weeks, which is not something you want out of your WR2, meaning he's best-suited as a WR3 who'll give you some WR1 performances at times
