Breaking Football
People clown Ertz and the rise of Goedert limits his ceiling, but he's as reliable as anyone. As long as Wentz is funneling him targets, I see no reason to get scared off of him.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Ertz battled through injuries and at times was the only legitimate receiving threat on the field for the Eagles and so saw plenty of extra coverage. But he still found his way to a fine season. He finished as the fifth tight end overall in fantasy, his third straight top five campaign, and had a massive 24% target share. With Alshon Jeffery likely to miss significant time this year, Ertz should once again see plenty of volume and be considered a top tight end.Jeffery wound up avoiding the PUP list, though he's unlikely to be able to suit up for at least the first game or two of the season. When healthy, Jeffery is an excellent fantasy option, capable of putting up WR2 numbers or better regularly. But coming off a Lisfranc injury, and with a checkered health history, it's hard to see him contributing all that much right out of the gate. With roster and IR spots at a premium this year, there's little reason to waste a draft pick on Jeffery until your starting roster is set.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
If there was a fantasy knock on Ertz three years ago, it's that he scored only 13 TDs despite 247 receptions over his first 61 NFL games. He doubled his previous career-high for touchdowns in a season in 2017, then matched that total in 2018 before scoring six TDs last season. Expect him to surpass 90 catches and 1,000 yards in 2020 as long as he can remain healthy for 16 games.
Kevin Tompkins
Fighting Chance Fantasy
With Jalen Reagor's injury and tentative month-long wait for him to get back on the field, that only helps boost the floor for Ertz. He's a cut-off for me for the elite options at the position, but somebody I have no problem taking in the 4th round given the right roster construction.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
Ertz's stats put him on a historic pace, with more yards (5,743 vs 5,647) and catches (525 vs 468) than HOFer Tony Gonzalez thru 7 seasons.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
After posting TE1-type numbers in 78.6 percent of his games in 2017, Ertz has slowly started to regress. In 2018, that mark went down to 68.8 percent, and then just 53.3 percent in 2019. The emergence of Dallas Goedert has surely lowered his consistency, as well as his ceiling. Not only that, but the Eagles added tons of wide receiver talent in this year's draft, which will only make targets harder to come by. Ertz should still be considered a top-five tight end by everyone, but he's not someone to consider in the top four rounds. What can we say at this point? It's more of a surprise to see him on the field than off the field. He's now missed 20 games over the last five seasons and appears set to start the year on the PUP list after undergoing Lisfranc surgery in mid-December. You'd think he'd be good to go by now, but with Jeffery, nothing is a given. You can't stash a player on your bench for six weeks in a year like this, though Jeffery does have appeal in best ball and leagues that'll allow you to place him on an IR slot. In his three years with the Eagles, Jeffery has managed to rack up 285 targets over 38 games, which amounts to 7.5 targets per game. That's led to WR2 or better numbers in 42.1 percent of games, which would've ranked as the No. 24 wide receiver in 2019. The Eagles don't have much wide receiver depth/talent, so once he comes back, he should walk back in to at least six targets per game and offer WR3 startability most weeks.

Steady as they come, don't worry too much about Goedert until Ertz shows us reason to believe he's no longer the man.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
For years Zach Ertz has been a model of consistency. Year after year he puts up big numbers in all categories but now he's facing some real competition at his own position with the ascension of Dallas Goedert. I don't expect Goedert to completely ruin Ertz's value but he will steal some targets and more importantly TDs. I still like Ertz as a high-end TE1 but we may not see the consistency we're used to out of himJeffrey played in only 10 games last year totaling 43 receptions, 490 yards, and four TDs. Now the Eagles have added first-rounder Jalen Reagor as well as John Hightower in this year's draft. Jeffrey's injury history and youth behind him have me nervous. He'll likely be a TD dependent WR who can only be played in favorable matchups.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Five of Ertz's six double-digit target games last season came AFTER Week 8. You can point to lack of weapons around him as the reason, but not that much has changed since last season. DJax and Jeffery are always health questions and could potentially help open things up in the middle for Ertz, Reagor is a rookie who may need time to develop, and it's pretty clear at this point that Goedert isn't keeping Ertz from being a top-3 TE.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
It's really hard to like Zach Ertz heading into 2020 as the red flags keep piling up. Ertz has always been consistent but lacked any perceptible upside last season and struggled to shine through despite a total lack of quality around him. Dallas Goedert continues to take away from his role and the influx of receiving quality around him will open up space but chip into his target floor and that's always been his greatest strength. Ertz is currently going at the 3rd/4th round turn and that's way too early for a guy who has massively limited upside and massive bust potential. He's still a Top 5 tight end but he's not that far ahead of the pack so he's not the right choice in most situations outside maybe PPR and certainly tight end premium leagues. The Eagles receiving corps is a massive mess but Alshon Jeffery remains the nominal WR1. While that's good in theory, he's very difficult to draft as a 30-year-old who is massively injury prone and coming off a Lisfranc injury which could see him start the season in IR. The upside does exist though as Jeffery has averaged double-digit half-PPR points each of the last seven seasons and is the major big-bodied receiver on the outside in Philly. He's a nice late gamble but you should be dropping him in advance of Week 1 if he's no good and you don't have an IR slot.

Ertz is unlikely to see the 135 targets that were thrown his way last year again in 2020, but he should get off to a great start for fantasy football. Alshon Jeffery has no timetable for his return, which creates a path again for Ertz to be the number one target in this offense right away. While he does have Dallas Goedert breathing down his neck, Ertz should be a solid option again at TE for you this season to begin the year. If Alshon does eventually come back, you'll be able to adjust at that point.Jeffery seems destined to start the 2020 season on the PUP list, unfortunately. With that being the case, Jeffery is nothing worth more than a stash if your league has an IR spot. If it doesn't, Jeffery should go straight to your waiver wire and you can attempt to pick him up later on. He does have upside when he's on the field, but at this point in his career, he may be more of a headache to own in fantasy than he's worth.

Ertz was still the TE4 on the back of a whopping 135 targets, but Goedert's emergence could have his fantasy arrow trending downwardTough surgery recovery awaits. Eagles added immense speed on the outside, which could actually make Alshon's life a whole lot easier working the short and intermediate sideline.

Do you really want to draft a WR that hasn't been over 850 yards since 2014, has only played 16 games twice in his career, is recovering from a Lisfranc injury, and relies on unreliable TDs for fantasy production at age 30?

Ertz loses a little fantasy value with the emergence of TE Dallas Goedert, but Ertz still had 916 yards from scrimmage and 6 touchdowns last year.
