Draftwize
With Daniel Jones at QB and Evan Engram playing, Darius Slayton averaged just 3.83 targets per game and never eclipsed a 13.8% target share in a single game. @ConnorAllenNFLThe Athletic's Daniel Popper reports that the Chargers are "preparing for the possibility to playing a majority of September without" WR Mike Williams (shoulder).
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Williams suffered a shoulder injury during camp and and although the Chargers have been publicly optimistic about him being ready for Week 1, there are reports that the team is preparing to be without him in September. He led all receivers last year with an 18.1 aDOT as Philip Rivers didn't hesitate to throw it up to him in deep in contested situations. Ordinarily, that would have probably made Williams a sleeper coming into this year, as his two touchdowns from last year were almost certainly due some positive regression. But with Tyrod Taylor replacing Williams, both the deep targets, and the number of targets, are likely to decline, and the Chargers should likely lean on their strong defense and running game. In other words, Williams is only a borderline WR4 this year who you probably won't be able to start with any regularity, even when he returns from injury.
Draft Engine
Draft Engine
As an outside threat who tends to play faster than the Giants' other receivers, Slayton proved to be a solid complement to Sterling Shepard, Golden Tate and tight end Evan Engram last season. Like Patriots quarterback Jarrett Stidham, Slayton may turn out to be a steal as a Day 3 selection in the 2019 NFL Draft after being underutilized as a college player in Auburn's run-oriented offense. While the Chargers' passing attack isn't likely to be more proficient with Philip Rivers having departed, there's a chance that Williams could benefit from a quarterback with the ability to extend plays outside the pocket. He somehow scored only two touchdowns last season despite averaging more yards per reception than any qualifying player since DeSean Jackson in 2014.
Ben Wasley
The Fantasy First Down
Darius Slayton had a strong debut season but his fantasy stock was overly boosted by his surprising 8 TDs. Massive regression is coming in an offense that now boasts a healthy Barkley, Engram, Tate and Shepard, something that was never true last season. He's a strong upside pick if everything goes right but not my preferred choice of target.Mike Williams had a 50% increase in yardage from 2018 to 2019, finishing as the only WR outside the top 26 to crack 1000 (he finished WR38!) That's what happens when you drop from 10 TDs to 2 TDs and get only 49 receptions. Regression should be indicated but it's very difficult to predict exactly what this offense will look like in 2020. It seems likely Williams will take a back seem to the run game, Keenan Allen and Hunter Henry but he should still have enough volume for fantasy relevant volume if this attack can click under Tyrod Taylor or Justin Herbert.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Everyone wants the shiny new toy that just posted 740 yards and eight touchdowns on just 83 targets last year, as evidenced by his WR39 ADP. The issue is stability. With Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate in the mix, it's going to be very hard for Slayton to get consistent targets and be reliable in fantasy. Sure, he had multiple 120-yard, two-touchdown games last year, but you know what else he had... after those games? A game with three targets. Another game with two targets. Keep in mind that was while Evan Engram was out of the lineup. Slayton outproduced what everyone expected last year, being a fifth-round pick, but there's a real chance he's the No. 5 option in this passing attack when everyone is healthy. His average depth of target last year was 14.5 yards down the field, which ranked 10th in all of football. That further indicates a boom/bust player who's being taken as a low-end WR3/high-end WR4. If you want to believe in his ceiling, that's fine, but don't pay for it. He's in the WR4 territory and not as safe as Shepard or Tate. If someone misses time, we saw what he can do if promoted. Not many realize that Williams ranked eighth among wide receivers in air yards last year. That's incredible opportunity. Unfortunately, he averaged just 2.0 yards of separation when targeted, which was the lowest number in football. Williams needs a quarterback who's willing to throw it into tight coverage to succeed. We haven't seen Tyrod Taylor play in a little bit, but the last season he was a starter was in 2017. He threw into tight coverage just 15.2 percent of the time, which was the seventh-lowest percentage in the league. In 2016, Taylor's mark was just 14.2 percent, the third-lowest mark in the league. Philip Rivers was at a much higher 17.1 percent last year. Williams is much more reliant on touchdowns to produce than Keenan Allen, which is why you should probably be fading the receiver who struggles with separation, especially now that he's playing with a quarterback who's not aggressive. Rivers has thrown 83 touchdowns in the 48 games since Williams came into the league. Meanwhile, Taylor has thrown 33 touchdown passes in his last 32 starts. Williams should be considered a WR4, at best.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Slayton surprised many as a rookie racking up 48 receptions, 740 yards, and eight TDs. For a rookie wideout, catching passes from a rookie QB, those are very impressive numbers. The progression of Jones is going to be key for Slayton but if Jones does take that next step, Slayton could finish as a top-30 WR.Mike Williams had one of the strangest seasons a WR could possibly have last year. On only 49 receptions, Williams totaled 1,001 yards. That's over 20 yards per reception. Meanwhile, he caught only two Tds after catching 10 in 2018. He was already a boom or bust player and now he'll have to adjust to a new QB. He's a solid WR4 but can't be trusted on a weekly basis.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Drafting Slayton in 2020 is a bit of a gamble. He was terrific last season, but the rest of the receiving options on the Giants were never fully healthy all at the same time. The Giants are still going to air the ball out a ton this season, but Slayton's going to have to see one or two other receivers miss significant time for him to see the target totals necessary. While Williams is an extremely talented wide receiver, this offense simply isn't going to have enough targets to go around to make Williams fantasy relevant this year. He'll have some big performances, but predicting which games those are going to be is going to be a nightmare. He's a player that I recommend letting someone else in your league draft.

I think he's less likely to take a value hit if targets get squeezed versus some of his slot friends..Despite seemingly having a down year from 2018 where he "broke out", in the form of TDs, this was actually an even more impressive year. Stayed healthy for the majority of the year and got his first 1000 yard season, was just missing the TDs of 2018. Put the last 2 season together and you get a Vincent Jackson type year. Would be happy to draft as a flex player if the QB situation is okay.
