Sleepers and Busts
Waller the Baller is in the first tier of tight ends. He's a matchup nightmare with his size and speed. The concerns involve the Raiders offensive line which took some hits in the offseason. Carr isn't mobile at all and that could derail some promising drives. The good news is the game script should lead to him getting a lot of catches with the Raiders trailing in the 4th Qtr.Another talented player in a bad situation. The Giants offensive line isn't very good. The book is still out on Daniel Jones. And some of the defensive lines they play in the NFC East keep me up at night, especially Washington's. I just can't see Golladay lighting it up when Chase Young is mauling Daniel Jones on every play. Get me some WRs on high scoring teams instead. Avoid
Tim Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
In a world where Kelce doesn't exist, Waller is the answer for best fantasy TE. Waller, who finished 2nd in scoring for TEs, recorded 61.1 more fantasy points (202.9) than the TE3 overall, Robert Tonyan (141.8). To put that into perspective, that is the same gap of points between Tonyan and the TE21 overall, Irv Smith Jr. The Raiders did not add any offense weapons of note outside of a 31-year old John Brown, and they lost their leading WR Nelson Agholor. Even if Henry Ruggs and Bryan Edwards take leaps as second-year players, there is no reason to think the Waller won't remain the No. 1 target for the Raiders.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
There's a lot of hype right now surrounding Kenny Golladay and it's easy to understand why that's the case. He's an incredibly talented receiver and he just signed a massive contract with the New York Giants in free agency. However, once you sit down and really assess the situation around him, it's difficult to get too excited. Golladay now joins an absolutely crowded offense with a lot of mouths to feed, which instantly puts a cap on his projected ceiling. With Saquon Barkley, Darius Slayton, Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney, Evan Engram, Kyle Rudolph, and Devontae Booker all in the mix for targets, Golladay is going to have to be ultra efficient with his opportunity to make an impact for fantasy football. In my opinion, Golladay is more of a low-end WR2 than anything else. You're buying into Daniel Jones taking a massive step forward if you trust Golladay as anything more than that. My Very Early Projection: 64-1087-7
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
I remember getting Waller in the fifth or sixth round last year, and though it never felt amazing while doing it, the end result worked out. Why didn't it feel amazing? He's part of the Raiders offense, that lacks potency. The targets were what we were chasing, and the targets are what we got. But when you're paying TE2 prices in the second round, you not only need the targets, you need touchdowns. While Waller scored nine of them last year, he scored just three of them in 2019 in the same offense. There's a reason people pay up for Travis Kelce, and while I like Waller, I just don't have that guaranteed Kelce-like production.Going to a new team is never easy, especially for someone who's coming from a team that was lacking any depth of pass catchers. It was easy for him to get eight-plus targets per game, especially when Marvin Jones was hurt. Now going to the Giants, who have a bevy of options, including Sterling Shepard, Kadarius Toney, Darius Slayton, Evan Engram, Kyle Rudolph, and Saquon Barkley. To be fair, you don't go out in free agency and sign someone like Golladay to give him five targets per game, but he's not going to get the consistent targets he got in Detroit, and the targets he does get aren't going to be as efficient.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Waller firmly established himself as one of the elite tight ends last season, leading the position in receptions with 107 and targets with 145, tied with Travis Kelce. He also led all tight ends with 27 red zone targets and 21 red zone receptions, and had an outstanding 2.28 yards per route run. To the extent you had any doubts about his fantasy stock after 2019, those doubts are long gone now. Draft him as a top-3 tight end with absolutely zero hesitation.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
Waller had a monster season with 225.1 fantasy points. He is not quite as good as Kelce, but he is still a fantastic fantasy tight end.Golladay had an injury plagued year and he now joins a Giants team that is trying to develop Daniel Jones. Golladay is a low-upside WR2 to high-end WR3 playing with an inconsistent quarterback.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Giants landing spot = mixed bag. Daniel Jones is a clear downgrade from Matt Stafford, but the path to Alpha WR1 volume is clear, especially in Jason Garrett's offense that has thrived with a monster X (Owens, Dez, Miles Austin)
