FantasyPros
Engram really struggled early in the year when QB Eli Manning was not playing well. If they can find an effective quarterback in the NFL Draft, Engram has huge bounce-back potential.Johnson becomes the lead back in Houston with RB Lamar Miller lost for the season. He should have RB3 value with upside, even with the addition of RB Carlos Hyde. Hyde should simply be a veteran presence to give Johnson a breather and offer a change of pace.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Remember when Engram finished his rookie season as the No. 5 tight end? Well, he did that because the volume was there. He saw 115 targets that season because of the injuries to Odell Beckham Jr. and Brandon Marshall. Those guys are both gone, and while Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate remain, those guys aren't going to see the target share of Beckham. Not only did Engram's target-share dip last year, but he also dealt with some injuries, leading him to finish outside the top-10 in his sophomore season. The expectation should be that he'll see 100-plus targets in 2019, which is something only 4-5 tight ends can sayIn case you missed it, Johnson was traded to the Texans. You also may have missed the fact that Lamar Miller tore his ACL during their third preseason game. Unless the Texans trade for a running back, Johnson is walking into a 15-plus touch role on one of the league's best offenses. He could post RB2 numbers if they don't add anyone of significance. *UPDATE* The Texans traded for Carlos Hyde, which bodes well for Johnson considering Hyde has been among the least efficient running backs over the last two years.
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Engram was injured for part of the season, but when he was healthy, he was solid once again, ranking 7th among all tight ends with 9.4 half-PPR points per game. The draw in Engram, of course, is the fact that Odell Beckham left in free agency, and while he has always been great, Golden Tate fills in and is also a target hog. When Engram had so many targets two years ago, Roger Lewis, was the #2 wideout so it is a much different scenario now than it was then. With Lamar Miller out for the season, Duke is the favorite to lead this team in touches. They brought in Carlos Hyde via trade and while you may think he is a lock to be the early-down back, Duke can handle a three-down workload as we saw in college when he touched the ball 22 times per game. He comes with both risk and upside, making him a worthwhile mid-round pick.
Brandon Funston
The Athletic
Moves up a few spots if HOU doesn't add a legit RB challenger via trade or a cut-casualty - moves down a few spots if they do
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Engram is a great athlete with red-zone chops. If Eli Manning wasn't under center I might have him 4th.I'm not sure yet what to do with Duke. All I know is he needs to be drafted/owned with all of Houston's running backs dead.
Kevin Wheeler
Draftwize
I already had Duke in my top 25 after being traded to Houston, with the Lamar Miller injury he has the potential to be a top 10 RB, but I can't draft him before the 6th round. I expect he can carry the workload and last 16 games that is why I have him ranked above the rest of the RB's in tier 3, but he has no chance of entering tier two before the season starts.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Engram played only 11 games last season, but had solid if unspectacular production when he was on the field. Engram's numbers have been substantially better whenever a Giants' wide receiver misses time, and considering that Odell Beckham Jr. is gone, Golden Tate is suspended, and Sterling Shepard is dealing with a thumb injury, Engram offers plenty of value, particularly early in the season. His upside may be capped by Eli Manning (unless or until he is replaced by Daniel Jones), but he still makes one of the best options after the top tier of tight ends is off the board.Johnson's value has changed drastically this preseason, first with the move to the Texans and now with Lamar Miller's (likely) torn ACL. Houston will surely add running back depth at this point, but Johnson is big enough to handle an every-down workload. Particularly in PPR or 0.5 PPR formats, he should be drafted as a rock solid RB2.
Michael Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Seemingly has a bunch of upside because he should see easily 100 targets, but Eli is throwing him the ball, which also limits his upside. Solid choice if you miss out on the big three TEs but you have to spend a high pick on him and he also has injury history.
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
Engram saw 125 targets and put up a 64/722/6 line in his ROOKIE season. Remarkable when considering how much rookie TEs struggle. Of course it helps that he saw 125 targets, but if he can put up those numbers as a rookie, he can certainly improve in his third season on a team devoid of weapons. Last season when OBJ was out, Engram averaged 5.5/80/0.33.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
With Odell being traded to the Browns, Engram once again finds himself as the top option in the passing game. He'll still need to compete with Shepard, Tate, Saquon...and...maybe...Corey Coleman for targets, but he's going to get all he can handle. He's also going to be used heavily in the red zone. Engram has averaged just under one red zone target per game in his two year career, but that should go up in 2019. Not only his it his third season (the general breakout season for TE's), but aside from Saquon, he's the only real red zone threat they have. Tate has never been a red zone guy, and while Shepard was given a lot of targets inside the 5 last season, we shouldn't expect him to see many while Engram is healthy. Ingram is one of the few receivers with 80/1000/10 upside.Duke Johnson has been traded from the Browns to the Texans...which is great for his fantasy outlook. The Browns never used him enough, and given what the Texans gave up to get him, I expect them to give him a decent role in the offense. The Texans line is bad, but Duke doesn't get his value on the ground. He'll be the team's new third down back, and they should find themselves trailing more than they did last season.
