Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
What we saw Allen do last season was truly incredible. With the addition of Diggs to this offense, the Bills opened things up and Allen absolutely flourished and put up ridiculous numbers. Heading into 2021, the entire crew is back - plus Emmanuel Sanders - and there's very little reason to doubt that Allen can finish as a top-3 option yet again. The Bills will continue to lean on him in the run game and the offense should continue to click as it did last year. There's a serious case to be made for Allen to be the first QB off the board in drafts this season.Ryan did have some appeal earlier on this off-season, but with Julio Jones now out of town, I'm staying completely away from the veteran QB. With a WR corps that lacks proven depth, it's difficult to find a path for how Ryan finishes as a top-12 QB. He might be able to provide you with a solid floor each week, but the path for upside simply isn't there. He's a fine QB2 for your Superflex formats, but I'm willing to look elsewhere at the position in my 1QB leagues.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
All you can ask for out of an NFL quarterback is improvement. Allen has done that every single year, and it's translated to fantasy football as well. His percentage of QB1-type games by year: 41.7 - 43.8 - 56.3. He tallied 26-plus fantasy points in eight games last year, which tied for the most in the league. Even better is that he had just one game that was labeled a bust, which lets you know he's a set-it-and-forget-it quarterback who can be played, regardless of opponent. When spending a high-round pick on a quarterback, that's what you need. Allen can start to be considered around the fourth round. We are finally going to see what Ryan looks like without Julio Jones. That doesn't sound appealing, does it? There's actually been 42 games in Ryan's career he's played without Jones. In those games, he's averaged 43.5 fewer yards, 0.13 fewer touchdowns, and 0.07 more interceptions, which may not sound like a lot, but it all adds up to 2.9 fewer fantasy points per game, and it's not as if Ryan was an elite fantasy starter with Jones. On top of that, Ryan has a new head coach, and one whose offenses have ranked 30th and 31st in pass attempts over the last two years. Ryan is going to be a streamer in 2021, so don't draft him as your every-week option.
Mark Ringo
Sleepers and Busts
Josh Allen took a huge leap last year. He had a career year in 2020. Those are hard to duplicate in back to back seasons. For where he's being drafted, the cost is too rich for my blood. The Falcons defense is awful. They'll be trailing and forced to pass, which means a lot of garbage yards will be there for the taking in the 4th Qtr. Losing Julio Jones hurts. At least Atlanta drafted highly touted rookie TE Kyle Pitts. If the Falcons can protect Ryan he could put up some decent numbers. Ryan's lack of mobility limits his upside though. Seriously, if the city of Atlanta built a new statue I think the statue would gain more rushing yards haha!
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
It is hard to believe that Josh Allen had 405.3 fantasy points in 2020, which is similar to the 409.98 fantasy points that Peyton Manning had in 2013. Allen is a fantasy star and he should put up great numbers again in 2021 for one of the best offenses in the NFL.The Falcons are keeping Matt Ryan at least through this year and they have given him Calvin Ridley and Kyle Pitts as weapons. Pitts was a great addition, but losing Julio Jones makes Ryan more of a QB2 this year than a QB1.
Tim Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
The sky is the limit for Josh Allen after he turned up the dial to 11 on his passing game, already adding to his great rushing floor. With not much changing with the offensive personnel, the Bills will continue to lean on Allen in the passing game, running game and on the goal line.Put a fork in Matt Ryan, he's done. Last season, he led the entire league in both pass attempts and completions yet only mustered the 15th most fantasy points per game while finishing 24th in True Throw Value (a BRoto Fantasy Exclusive Stat that measures a QB's fantasy efficiency through the air). If you can't count on a QB1 finish, at the very least, from an immobile QB in a year that he leads the league in completions, then what more is there really to consider? On top of that, in the last two years Ryan has average 5 less fantasy points per game without Julio Jones. This might be the last year that Matt Ryan is a full-year starter in the NFL.
Joe Pisapia
FantasyPros
Josh Allen had a MVP caliber season and ended up as QB1 overall in fantasy. He finished '20 with 4.5K passing yards, a 69% completion rate, 37 TD, and 10 INT. His rushing attempts year over year stayed flat, but his yardage fell from 510 to 421 yards. That's probably a good thing because it meant he wasn't running with abandon as much. However, he still managed eight rush TDs. Outside of one dreadful game in Week 7 vs. SEA, the O-Line played well, but the run game made the Bills one-dimensional offensively, and Allen to Stefon Diggs was pretty much that dimension. In the playoffs, "reckless" Josh Allen started to creep back in as he tried to do too much under pressure, twisting and turning, trying to make plays instead of eating a sack or throwing a ball away. More balance from the run game in 2021 will help the Bills and Allen thrive this season. However, that's not a given. Six times, Josh Allen scored 30+ fantasy points. A fantasy regular season is usually 13-14 weeks long. He's good for six wins, and that puts you in the playoff hunt.Ryan had two elite wide receivers in Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, but Julio is now onto Tennessee. The addition of TE sensation Kyle Pitts in the draft could fill that void and running back Mike Davis in free agency gives Ryan a complete and balanced complement of weapons. Ryan is an annual threat to throw for 4.5K yards and close to 30 TDs. The Falcons still didn't make any real gains year over year defensively, so this offense will have plenty of opportunities to put up points. That's good for your fantasy team. Ryan is a "safe" consolation prize at QB if you miss out on the upper tier at the position. New HC Arthur Smith doesn't have Derrick Henry in Atlanta, so the strength of the offense will continue to be the passing game.
Wolf of Roto Street
Roto Street Journal
Arthur Smith intriguing playcaller, though run-heavy past slight concern. Wonder how much of that was Vrabel directed, and now Kyle Pitts makes this team virtually indefe nsible
