The Fantasy First Down
Miles Boykin may be the Ravens's nominal WR2 but in an offense that mostly runs through the run game, the tight ends and Marquise Brown, there's very little left for others. In fact, amazingly, Boykin had only 13 receptions all season. While Boykin should improve in his second season, with the additions of Devin Duvernay and James Proche there's only so much room for growth.Danny Amendola was an unexpected PPR wide receiver in an offense that was without Matthew Stafford for half the season. Amendola is a better Best Ball option given his penchant for breakout performances but he is a reasonable depth option you can grab at the end of drafts. I prefer seasonal upside in the later rounds but safety can be valuable and Amendola will offer that as his role is secure.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
Have the Ravens written him off as a bust? After drafting him in the third round last year, they had him playing behind guys like Seth Roberts and Willie Snead. He played just 27.2 snaps per game and saw just 22 targets his rookie year despite being healthy for all 16 games. He did score three touchdowns on those targets, and outside of Mark Andrews, he's probably the dark horse to lead the team in receiving touchdowns at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds. Still, he needs to be on the field for that to happen. My guess would be that he starts on the perimeter opposite Marquise Brown with Roberts gone, so there's some sort of opportunity here. The issue is that they targeted wide receivers just 172 times last year. Even a 15 percent increase (which is a lot) would bring them up to 200 targets. Without an injury, it's going to be difficult for Boykin to see more than 50-60 targets, even as a starter.Raise your hand if you knew Amendola had 96 targets last year. Now put your hand down, liar. It was his first year with the team and he clearly had a big role, though he turned those 96 targets into just 678 yards and a touchdown. It does help his projection to know that Geronimo Allison opted out, as he's someone who could've stole slot snaps. Despite being targeted five-plus times in 10-of-15 games last year, Amendola topped 47 yards just four times, and it's not as if touchdowns will help make up for that, as he's scored once every 37.9 targets over the course of his 11-year career. He's a last-ditch bye-week option who'll likely have somewhat of a stable floor in PPR formats, but that's about it.
Elliot Berkovits
Packer Report
Boykin plays in the run-heaviest offense in football which isn't all that great considering he's a WR. Until he proves he can be a consistent member of the offense, Boykin should remain on waivers.Amendola is 1/3 of the Lions WR trio. The problem is, he's the 3rd of those three WR's in terms of targets and productivity. He does not need to be drafted in redraft leagues.
Kyle Yates
FantasyPros
Boykin's going to be a starter in his offense, but he's going to be fourth (at best) on this roster in targets. Marquise Brown, Devin Duvernay, and Mark Andrews are all going to see a significant target share, but Boykin has the raw athleticism to make his targets count. He's likely going to have one or two big games this season, but he's not going to be a consistent fantasy option.Amendola's not exactly someone that people are going to be excited hitting the draft button on, but it's hard to find players in the later rounds that are going to see significant targets. Did you know that Amendola saw 97 targets in 2019? Unfortunately, he only scored 1 receiving TD, which isn't going to get it done for fantasy football. However, Matthew Stafford will be back healthy this season and there's going to be plenty more scoring opportunities for the shifty slot-receiver in Detroit this year.
Dan Harris
FantasyPros
Boykin saw just 22 targets in his rookie season, though that should hardly be viewed as an indictment of his talent. The Ravens' run-heavy approach and positive game script left few targets to go around. Because they ran the ball at such an historic rate last year, the Ravens' natural regression suggests there should be more targets to go around. Boykin should benefit, but with the addition of Devin Duvernay, there's one more mouth to feed in Baltimore. Boykin should improve, but he's unlikely to see enough work to be worth drafting in fantasy leagues.
