QB List
Another wonderfully redundant signing, Watkins enters a Chiefs offense flush with key contributors and a player who already has the downfield role locked up in Tyreek Hill. With this in mind I have to assume Watkins will be utilized similar to how he was used in Los Angeles: the sporadic deep route and as a physical force at the goal line. Even then, however, Watkins upside will be severely diminished, and that's without even taking into account the progression of young QB Patrick Mahomes. I'm inclined to stay away in favor of other Tier 5 options, but Watkins is still the #2 receiver in a gunslinging KC offense. My personal vote for the NFL's most overlooked player, Woods posted consistently great numbers for the Rams last season before sustaining a shoulder injury in week 11. The man then came back in week 15, STILL produced, and was then completely forgotten as the Rams traded for and signed Brandin Cooks. Woods posted the 9th best yards per pass route last season and was rewarded by bringing in a player with the exact same skill set as him only a bit more athletically gifted. Womp womp womp. Well, with the boneheaded Rams bringing in an entirely redundant player, Woods looks to be the biggest sacrifice to Cooks presumably great production. HOWEVER, Woods has shown himself as a valuable player for the Rams, and with a decent target share or practically any injury in the Rams WR corps, Woods could produce WR3 numbers with good upside. I like him at WR50 as a tremendous handcuff to Cooks and a great deep league stash play.

Watkins lands in Kansas City and will be a boom-or-bust fantasy prospect once again. I do like that he gets a strong-armed Patrick Mahomes throwing to him, as the deep ball is where he has done much of his damage in the NFL. I will likely draft Watkins this year for his upside but be prepared for another disappointment. The acquisition of Brandin Cooks is going to put a dent into Woods' targets this season, but in the NFC West, there are a ton of good shutdown corners and Woods now gets to bypass them for the most part.
Andrew Gould
FantasyPros
How much longer will the fantasy community hold out hope on Watkins? One more year. He has caught 67 of 122 targets over the last two seasons combined and followed last year's only 100-yard showing by dispersing 28 yards through three contests. Yet six scores vaulted him to WR23 after a Week 8 bye, and Patrick Mahomes is a better partner for downfield damage than Jared Goff. He's an interesting high-upside gamble (especially in Best Ball drafts) near the seventh or eighth round.Targeted five times in all but one of 12 games, Woods averaged 65.1 YPG with more fantasy PPG than Mike Evans and Alshon Jeffery. Yet Brandin Cook Is due more than the 70 targets abdicated by Sammy Watkins, so Woods is treated like a WR3 (No. 85 ADP) instead of a breakout star. Right now it's going to be hard to trust any Rams receiver on a week-to-week basis.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
It wouldn't shock me to see Watkins finish as the best Chiefs wide receiver, as I believe he's the most talented one. The issue is that he's learning his third offense in three years, which can cripple a wide receiver in year-one. Because of that, Tyreek Hill is the preferred option in 2018. Still, the Chiefs didn't pay Watkins $50 million to see 60-80 targets, so I'd expect him to be a WR3 more often than not. With Pat Mahomes under center and a bad defense, the recipe is there for increased pass attempts. As it turns out, coaching does, in fact, matter more than most care to admit. After failing to finish as a top-40 wide receiver in any of his first four seasons, Woods finished as the WR33 in 2017 despite missing four games! His 85 targets over 12 games would extrapolate to 113.3 over a full 16-game season, though we can't automatically pencil him in for that with the arrival of Brandin Cooks. With the way their defense improved, it's unlikely that they'll be throwing any more in 2018, so you have to keep your expectations at bay with Woods. He's likely to be on the WR3/WR4 border most weeks and offers little upside with all the playmakers on that offense.
Kevin Wheeler
NFL Mock
Coach Andy Reid said he's been moving Sammy Watkins "all over the place" on offense. "We were moving him everywhere," Reid said. "He hasn't had to do that in his career." In past stops with the Bills and Rams, Watkins has been a traditional X receiver on the back side of defenses, routinely facing the other team's best corner or seeing double coverage. Chiefs.com's B.J. Kissel writes the connection between Patrick Mahomes and Sammy Watkins is "real." Kissel writes Mahomes and Watkins have consistently been connecting throughout the offseason program, and fellow receiver Chris Conley said Watkins has picked up the offense "as fast as anyone I've seen." I generally stay away from this type of off season hype, but Sammy has been hindered by nagging injuries when in Buffalo and zero pre-season prep with his new QB in LA going into last year. Sammy has the athleticism and skill to be a WR1, I'm hoping he is fed the targets he will need to get there. Per airyards.com , since 2009, just 22 teams have had at least 3 players with a target share of at least 20%. That's fewer than three per season and there was no such team in 2017. @TJHernandez He's Just coming into his prime, already a favorite target for Goff.
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
Who knows how Watkins will fit in a new system with basically a rookie QB playing but I have to trust the talent here
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Don't give up on Watkins, who was a trainwreck last season. He didn't know the playbook because of when he was traded and the Rams weren't creative with their use of him. Kansas City has big plans for Sammy apparently, and if he can stay healthy, he's got all the talent in the world for a huge breakout. While Woods was on the field last year, he was tremendous, and it would be fair to expect more of the same, but with Cooper Kupp moving past his rookie year and Brandin Cooks upgrading the Sammy Watkins role, some regression seems to be in store for Woods making him merely a low-end WR3.
Derek Lofland
Fantasy Football Maniax
Watkins has never lived up to his high first round pick billing, but he has a chance to be a WR3 in a revamped KC offense.
