No. 1 RB in '18 falls down the '19 draft list because of an arthritic knee that is expected to bring about a reduced-workload maintenance plan by the Rams - definition of a high risk/reward pickLed all TEs in rec. yards (1377) and his 10.2 yards gained average after the catch was more than a yard higher than any other receiver in the league, and 3 yards higher than his expected yards after the catch avg. (7.0)
Kevin Roberts
Breaking Football
The knee issue is concerning, but Gurley could still have a big role in a great system. If he falls into the second round I won't be ignoring him
Jason Petropoulos
BRoto Fantasy
It's tough to know if he can repeat a 88/1377/5 line, but it's important to note he only scored FIVE TDs. Even if his yardage and catches drop, he has the TD upside to make up for it.
Mike Tagliere
FantasyPros
There are some real questions surrounding Gurley as we enter the 2019 season. Not only did C.J. Anderson play over him during the playoffs, but the Rams also traded up to the start of the third-round to select Darrell Henderson, an explosive running back out of Memphis. The Rams also matched an offer sheet the Lions submitted to backup running back Malcolm Brown, meaning the Rams are more worried about Gurley than they're letting on. We all know Gurley comes with plenty of upside, but we also know you can't win your fantasy league in the first-round, but you can definitely help lose it.You have to give Kittle a ton of credit for what he did in 2018. He played with a combination of Jimmy Garoppolo, C.J. Beathard, and Nick Mullens, yet managed to set the yardage record for a tight end. Getting Garoppolo back for the full season should help, but he may lose a few targets considering Dante Pettis is now in a starting role, while the 49ers drafted Deebo Samuel in the second-round and Jalen Hurd in the third-round. He's still a force to be reckoned with and one of the three tight ends worth a pick in the first three rounds
Bobby Sylvester
FantasyPros
Gurley most certainly slowed down at the end of the year and comes with risk because of the unknown surrounding his knee. With that said, he was so exceptional each of the last two years that even with a 25% drop in production, he would still be an easy top 10 back. He still has more upside than any back including this year's big four so don't hesitate to snag him in the back end of the first round if you are feeling lucky. Not only did Kittle receive for more yards than any tight end in football history last year, but he did it with Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard as his quarterbacks. Enter Jimmy Garoppolo and we might see an even better season. Granted, the 49ers have some weapons in the passing game, but among them, Kittle is still the number one and you likely can't say that about Ertz in Philly with Alshon roaming around.
Derek Lofland
FantasyPros
I never want to hear that my RB1 is managing his arthritic component in his knee and his usage in the postseason last year screamed that knee had some issues. He is still a RB1 in a great scheme, but I think the days of him being the best fantasy running back in the NFL are over, as the Rams will need to manage his touches for him to stay healthy.Kittle had 88 receptions for 1,377 yards and 5 touchdowns on an offense that started 3 quarterbacks last year. There is an argument to be made that he is the best receiving tight end in football, but I would still rank him below Kelce due to the QB situation in San Francisco.
Kyle Yates
The Fantasy Footballers
We saw a complete emergence from George Kittle in 2018 that has lead to unimaginable hype for the young TE. With that being said, there's reason to be cautious with Kittle moving forward. We've seen a very small sample size with Kittle and Garoppolo and the 49ers added a bunch of other weapons to that offense this offseason. Kittle will still be heavily involved, but we may not see 1,300 receiving yards from him again in 2019...Temper your expectations, but still feel confident drafting Kittle in the 4th-5th rounds of your redraft leagues.
Nick Zylak
Fantasy Football Advice
Unfortunately, I will not have any shares of Todd Gurley this season. It's not that he can't have a good year, it's just that it's not worth the risk. With Darrell Henderson drafted to fill the Alvin Kamara role, his upside is capped. We know he's never again going to see the same sort of volume he has over the past few seasons, so even being in this prolific offense might not be able to save him. There is absolutely a chance that Gurley pays off his ADP and carries your team to the championship. However, it's unlikely, and just not worth the gamble. Unless he falls to the third round I can't justify drafting him.George Kittle is going to be the centerpiece of the 49ers passing offense. So while we can't expect him to break the single season receiving record again, he should still have a great season. We still don't have a large enough sample to know exactly how well Kittle will perform with Garoppolo...but it's safe to assume he's not a downgrade from what they had last season. Kittle is now entering his third season as a pro, at a position that's notoriously difficult for young players. He's also missed just one game in his short two year career, although it's worth noting that he still has suffered a few injuries over the past few years. I view Kittle as a safe pick in the third round if you want to target a TE early. Unfortunately, he routinely gets taken in the second...an ADP which I'm less in love with.
