DeMarco Murray to lead Titans' backfield in 2017

by Anthony Cervino | Tue, Mar 28th 4:19pm EDT

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Mularkey told the media running back DeMarco Murray will lead the team's backfield in 2017. "I've said it before: DeMarco Murray is our No.1 back," Mularkey said Tuesday. "He is our workhorse." (Jim Wyatt on Twitert)

Fantasy Impact:

As expected, Murray will lead Tennessee's backfield in 2017 despite the late-season emergence of Derrick Henry in 2016. Playing in all 16 games, Murray rushed for 1,287 yards and nine touchdowns that include five games of at least 100 yards rushing and a 4.4 YPC average. He also produced a 53-377-3 stat line as a receiver last season. Expect Murray to garner a similar workload next season as he had in 2016. However, it wouldn't be surprising if Henry received an expanded role in the offense as well to give Murray extra rest and extend his longevity.
