Vance McDonald's role to remain the same

Steelers OC Randy Fichtner is suggesting that TE Vance McDonald's role will remain the same as it was in 2018 this season. (D.K. Pittsburgh Sports)
Fantasy Impact:
When asked if McDonald will see an increased role in 2019, Fichtner replied that "he [McDonald] won't. He's never going to play the full game. That's never going to happen." Outside of Xavier Grimble and swingman Jaylen Samuels, there isn't much competition at tight end for McDonald on the Steelers. That said, he finished 2018 as a TE1 and could still take a 2019 leap playing similar snaps mostly because Jesse James and Antonio Brown are playing with other clubs. Their vacated targets will create additional opportunities for McDonald, who showed trust and rapport with Ben Roethlisberger last season.
