Isaiah Spiller sees sizable workload in preseason debut

Rookie running back Isaiah Spiller garnered a handful of touches Saturday in his first taste of professional action with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy Impact:

Spiller carried the ball 10 times against the Rams, the majority of which came in the second half, for a total of 34 yards. He carried the ball seven more times than any other RB on the night and also added a reception for 10 yards. Reports coming out of training camp suggest that not only will the fourth-round pick be the primary backup running back, but he will also get a decent amount of work behind Austin Ekeler. Joshua Kelley got the start on Saturday and looked good to open the game, but Spiller is still the most likely candidate to open the season as the No. 2 RB. Spiller is worthy of a late-round pick in fantasy drafts and would vault into the RB1 conversation should Ekeler miss any time this season.
