Jacob Wayne Lineups | Tyler Lockett has clear WR1 upside on any given week as he's the top target in the offense for Russell Wilson. Sure, D.K. Metcalf has exciting upside, but Lockett and Wilson have developed chemistry over the past few seasons which is mostly unmatched across the NFL. The Falcons' secondary is a mess and I expect Tyler Lockett to take advantage with a strong Week 1 performance. | With Kevin Stefanski taking over in Cleveland, I have some concerns about Jarvis Landry's utility. The Browns' receiver has been dominant out of the slot when he plays there, but Stefanski loves utilizing two running backs or two tight ends more than most, and that will put Landry on the outside more often. The Ravens have some strong cover corners including Marcus Peters, Marlon Humphery, and Jimmy Smith. The types of targets Landry gets makes him a lower-upside weekly guy, although the game script in this one could force Cleveland to air it out. Landry is a fine WR3, but I'm not typically targeting him in DFS lineups. |
Isaiah Sirois FantasyPros | Jarvis Landry scored 24.7 and 14.4 PPR points against the Ravens last year. The downtick in production can be attributed to the Ravens' personnel changes. They sent Brandon Carr after Landry in Week 4, but in Week 16, the Marcus Peters trade allowed them to use Marlon Humphrey against him. While Humphrey should cover Landry when he's outside, Ravens nickel corner Tavon Young should get him when he's in the slot. Both corners are tough opponents, so Landry is a low-end WR2 at best this week.
Mike Tagliere FantasyPros | The Falcons looked to be a pretty average team against wide receivers last year, allowing the 16th most fantasy points to them. But looking a bit closer, they were very bad. They allowed a 67.5 percent completion rate (fifth-highest), 9.52 yards per target (second-highest), and a touchdown every 17.3 targets (eighth-most often) to wide receivers. What does all that add up to? 1.97 PPR points per target, which ranked as the third-highest mark in the league. Not an average secondary now, eh? Lockett caught all six of his targets for 100 yards in their meeting with each other last year. Considering they lost long-time starter Desmond Trufant, it's hard to say they're going to get better. Start Lockett as a rock-solid WR2 who comes with plenty of upside in this matchup. | He's coming off hip surgery and was just cleared to come off the PUP list a few weeks ago, so there could be a slow start to his season. That's the concern. The reason for optimism is that he played extremely well against this tough defense last year. In two games, he piled up 15 receptions for 241 yards, finishing as the WR5 and WR27 in those games. That was under the previous coaching staff and if the Browns are moving towards more 12 personnel (1 running back, 2 tight ends) under Stefanski, it would mean less slot duties for Landry. That means he'll see one of Marcus Peters or Marlon Humphrey in coverage, which is not ideal. The two of them combined to allow just 1,075 yards on 165 targets in coverage, which amounts to just 6.5 yards per target. I'd like Landry more if he weren't coming off the hip injury, as he'll still play inside the slot more than Beckham and get away from Peters/Humphrey, but given the nature of the injury and the run-heavy offense, I'm a bit more cautious. I'd say he's a WR3 this week who has a wide range of outcomes, though I don't see a much of a ceiling here. |
Kyle Yates FantasyPros | The Falcons and Seahawks matchup could very easily turn into a shootout, which leads to Lockett being an absolute must-start option this week. Lockett's chemistry with Wilson cannot be denied and he's always a threat to score. Lockett can be rolled out as a WR2 with upside this week.
Derek Lofland FantasyPros | Lockett has a good matchup against Atlanta, but I think Metcalf is going to be the featured wide receiver on an offense that does not throw the ball a ton. Lockett is a good WR3 option in a game that could turn into a high scoring affair. |
