Quarterback
Brian Hoyer – Houston Texans ($25)
@ Jacksonville Jaguars
It appears that coach Bill O’Brien is going with Hoyer, at least for the foreseeable future. Hoyer has shown that he can post nice fantasy games from time to time when given the chance. He should find himself in a good position to perform against a Jacksonville defense that is twelfth in the league in fantasy points allowed to quarterbacks. Hoyer should be able to find DeAndre Hopkins early and often considering Jacksonville has no one who can slow down the target-monster star receiver.
Other notables:
- Blake Bortles ($28) questionable on injury report
- Colin Kaepernick ($26)
- Teddy Bridgewater ($26)
Running Back
Charcandrick West – Kansas City Chiefs ($10)
@ Minnesota Vikings
West looks to be getting the first crack at replacing the injured Jamaal Charles in the Kansas City backfield. He may have to share with Knile Davis, so the workload remains a question, but anytime a running back’ss at his price and projects to see 15-20 carries, he needs to be strongly considered in your daily lineups. The Vikings appear to represent a neutral matchup as they rank seventeenth in the league in fantasy points allowed to running backs, but their DVOA rating on Football Outsiders has them as only the twenty-sixth best team against the run.
Other notables:
- T.J. Yeldon ($18)
- Melvin Gordon ($18)
- Duke Johnson ($14)
- Shane Vereen ($12)
Wide Receiver
Willie Snead – New Orleans Saints ($18)
vs. Atlanta Falcons
Snead appears to be taking over as Dree Brees’ favorite target for the Saints. Don’t let the touchdown scored by Brandin Cooks last week fool you, that came in garbage time after Snead had done most of the heavy lifting. Cooks will likely see coverage from Atlanta’s best corner Desmond Trufant, leaving Snead to run free against the rest of Atlanta’s secondary. Snead should be locked into a full-time role going forward, especially this week considering Marques Colston is not likely to play.
Other notables:
- John Brown ($18)
- Leonard Hankerson ($18)
- Anquan Boldin ($15)
- Jamison Crowder ($11)
Tight End
Jordan Cameron – Miami Dolphins ($14)
@ Tennessee Titans
Cameron should be recovered from his groin injury coming off the bye week. He has shown to be one of Ryan Tannehill’s favorite targets this year as he’s seen 28 looks over his first four games in a Miami uniform. He has a tasty matchup against a Titans defense that has struggled to defend against tight ends this season. Cameron, when healthy, is a difference-maker at the position. Tennessee is allowing the ninth most fantasy points to tight ends in the league. Look for Miami to respond positively to the coaching change and play well against the Titans this week.
Other notables:
- Richard Rodgers ($15)
- Larry Donnell ($14)
- Jacob Tamme ($12)
- Derek Carrier ($10)
Defense/Special Teams
Cincinnati Bengals ($12)
@ Buffalo Bills
The Bengals defense has been much improved this season and they have a favorable matchup on tap against the Bills. Buffalo will more than likely be without Tyrod Taylor, Sammy Watkins, and LeSean McCoy this weekend. This means the the Bills offense will be run by E.J. Manuel. This sets the Bengals defense up nicely for a productive game and Manuel has not shown that he can be a productive quarterback in the NFL.
Other notables:
- Chicago Bears ($10)
- Houston Texans ($10)
- Jacksonville Jaguars ($10)
