Allen Robinson and the Jaguars could be in store for a big fantasy weekend

If you are reading this I should probably congratulate you. There is a good chance you have made it to the fantasy Super Bowl. All the hard work has paid off and now it is time to go get the trophy (and the money of course). If you are done with your season-long leagues that does not mean the fun is over. There is still daily fantasy to be played, this week and beyond.

WEEK 15 RECAP

Let’s take a look at a quick recap from Week 15.

I Knew It

Matthew Stafford – QB – Detroit Lions – 254 yds, 3 TD
His two-touchdown hump came to a halt when Stafford threw for a hat trick last week.

Michael Floyd – WR – Arizona Cardinals – 5 rec, 70 yds
Floyd finished with 12 points but so did John Brown who scored the lone receiving touchdown. Floyd was the most productive Cardinal receiver of the day.

Jeremy Maclin – WR – Kansas City Chiefs – 7 rec, 50 yds, 1 TD
Maclin continues to produce and has now scored in three of his past four games.

T.Y. Hilton – WR – Indianapolis Colts – 3 rec, 29 yds
He is a true boom-or-bust receiver who leans closer to the bust side. Hilton and the Colts miss a healthy, effective Andrew Luck.

Frank Gore – RB – Indianapolis Colts – 16 att, 44 yds, 1 rec, 15 yds
2.7 yards per carry is what we saw in the aging back last weekend. He was not able to crack 50 yards on the ground.

I Blew It

Chris Ivory – RB – New York Jets – 13 att, 37 yds, 1 rec, 5 yds
Although this felt like a ground-and-pound “Ivory game,” it was Bilal Powell who again the more productive back and scored.

Jacob Tamme – TE – Atlanta Falcons
Tamme was blanked and contributed nothing. He was a huge miss on my part.

Tim Hightower – RB – New Orleans Saints – 13 att, 54 yds, 3 rec, 31 yds
I liked him to see high-volume and to score on the Detroit Lions’ porous run defense. Neither of those happened.

Philip Rivers – QB – San Diego Chargers – 311 yds, 3 TD, 2 INT
I should have bought into the narrative of Rivers’ final game in San Diego. I did not, and he put up 20 points.

Dez Bryant – WR – Dallas Cowboys – 4 rec, 50 yds, 1TD
Bryant beat Darrelle Revis for a score last week. I recommended dropping Bryant and still feel that way, but if a player scores then I blew it.

Darren McFadden – 16 att, 100 yds, 2 rec, 13 yds
I expected the Jets’ third-ranked run defense to give McFadden a headache, but he hit the century mark on just 16 carries.

Delanie Walker – TE – Tennessee Titans – 2 rec, 64 yds, 2 TD
The Patriots did their part in limiting Walker, holding him to two catches. But Walker made them both count.

WEEK 16 START/SIT SUGGESTIONS

Who’s Hot – Start

Fire Starter: Blake Bortles – QB – Jacksonville Jaguars @ New Orleans Saints
DK: $5,500, FD: $8,200

I am likely not alone in recommending Bortles this week, but he is impossible to look past as a must-start. In four straight games, he has done no worse than 22 points. In that time, he has thrown 11 touchdowns to two interceptions. He is simply playing lights out and gets a dream matchup against the Saints this week. At 51.5 points Vegas likes this game as the highest-scoring affair of the weekend. Bortles will keep it rolling with multiple touchdowns and will outscore his current month-long floor of 22 points.

He very well could be the highest-owned quarterback across all daily formats this weekend. He is a tournament staple and certainly would not do any harm in cash games either. His floor is super high.

Allen Robinson – WR – Jacksonville Jaguars @ New Orleans Saints
DK: $7,500, FD: $8,400

If I am going to recommend Bortles then I will also recommend 2015’s current touchdown leader among receivers. Robinson is tied with Odell Beckham and Doug Baldwin with 13 scores on the season. We already know Beckham will miss this week’s action, and Baldwin is a game-time decision. When we head into the final week of the season Robinson will be at the top of the chart. He could be playing with a chip on his shoulder this weekend after a mind-boggling Pro Bowl snub. I should also mention the matchup heavily favors him to finish as a top play this week.

The Bortles/Robinson stack will cost you a pretty penny, but they will be worth the significant portion of your salary cap. Robinson is also a top play in both tournaments and cash games.

Eric Decker – WR – New York Jets vs. New England Patriots
DK: $6,500, FD: $7,600

I have stated in the past that I believe Decker is the most underrated WR2 in football. I will take that argument a step further and say that there is no more reliable receiver in football than Decker. His consistency has produced a ridiculous floor. He has scored in every game this season except for three. In those games he has not scored he has recorded a minimum of 81 yards. This will be a gritty divisional matchup in a must-win situation for the Jets. They have always relied on Decker and will need to do so to remain competitive and upset the Patriots. In their first meeting, he took six receptions for 94 yards. This time around he will hit pay dirt.

I personally find Decker in every daily lineup each week. It has gotten to the point where I build my lineups around him, and I recommend him in any type of game on both sites.

Karlos Williams – RB – Buffalo Bills vs. Dallas Cowboys
DK: $4,500, FD: $5,400

We could be dealing with a split with Mike Gillislee, but I expect Williams to carry the bulk of the load. He will be facing the Cowboys at home and they have all but mailed it in. They will not admit to shutting down their stars or, as the beat reporters put it, engaging in “organic tanking,” but we will see a less-competitive team. Williams should have no issues running on this defense that is allowing running backs an average of 19.3 points per game. They have surrendered 14 total touchdowns to the position. The biggest hit to his value would be Gillislee stealing the goal-line opportunities.

I am high on Williams in cash games this weekend, but I do feel Gillislee could see a handful of carries and vulture a touchdown. He is on my radar in tournaments.

Cameron Artis-Payne – RB – Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons
DK: $4,300, FD: $5,600

The Panthers are wisely holding Jonathan Stewart out until the playoffs and Artis-Payne took the majority of the carries in his absence last week. We should see the same against the Falcons this week, who remain a bottom-five defense against the run. The matchup will be there for the rookie to produce but he will need to make the most of his opportunities. Fozzy Whitaker and Mike Tolbert will be rotated in, but Artis-Payne’s volume and matchup have him as a start for me this week.

Artis-Payne is a great option in daily leagues due to his discounted cost. It should not take much for him to hit value and it could be a touchdown that will make him worth the play. At his price range, you could pay up at other positions.

Will Tye – TE – New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings
DK: $3,500 , FD: $5,100

This may seem like a risky call, but if you are looking for me to tell you to start Rob Gronkowski then you are in the wrong place. This will be a difficult matchup for the Giants who will be without Odell Beckham. Tye will also have his work cut out for him against a defense that has allowed just four touchdowns to tight ends. I am going bold here in saying not only will Tye score, but he will be the leading receiver for the Giants. Eli Manning is a two-time Super Bowl champion who knows how to win critical games. This is a critical game for the Giants, and Tye will be heavily featured. He is in line for a big day.

I am a huge fan of Tye in tournaments this weekend. He is cheap, and I expect low ownership. I am looking at safer options in cash games.

Who’s Not – Sit

Ice Cold: Chris Ivory – RB – New York Jets vs. New England Patriots
DK: $4,700, FD: $6,900

There was no bigger Ivory cheerleader than me in the offseason and during the first half of this year. Part of being an effective fantasy player is not getting attached to players and knowing when to cut bait. This would be a good week for you to bench Ivory. You cannot trust a running back with three single-digit performances in his past five games during your championship.

Ivory is off my radar in daily games, but his teammate Bilal Powell makes for a sneaky play in tournaments.

Matt Ryan – QB – Atlanta Falcons vs. Carolina Panthers
DK: $5,200, FD: $6,800

If Ryan is still your starting quarterback then I should congratulate you for making it to the championship with him. He has been terrible over his past five games, throwing eight interceptions to six touchdowns. The Falcons started off the season hot but have dramatically cooled since their Week 1 bye. If you play Ryan this week he will cost you a championship.

Ryan is a quarterback I look to in daily games as a cheap option when I stack him with Julio Jones or Devonte Freeman. With that said, I will not be using him or his teammates in tournaments or cash games this week.

Eddie Lacy – RB – Green Bay Packers @ Arizona Cardinals
DK: $4,900, FD: $6,300

This is another player that you should be counting your lucky stars if you advanced with him in your lineup. Do not do it again this week. The Cardinals are a stout defense, as we all know, but with their secondary being dinged up Aaron Rodgers will have more opportunities to throw the ball. Enter James Starks, who has proven to be a more effective back than Lacy on multiple occasions.

Lacy is another person I am looking right past in daily games of all kinds. He has been a colossal flop this season and could cost you a chance at winning money if you choose to roster him.

Rueben Randle – WR – New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings
DK: $3,500, FD: $5,700

It is easy to assume Randle will be the benefactor of Beckham’s absence, but I am not buying it. I realize he has scored in three of his past four games, but he was benefitting from the attention defenses were giving Beckham. The Vikings’ secondary should be able to contain Randle, who tends to show flashes of big-play ability rather than consistency. He could have a huge game, score and make me look foolish, but I am not going to recommend starting him in your championship.

I have a slightly different tune in daily contests. The fact that Randle is dirt-cheap makes him a tournament option and a cash game consideration. He will be in more than one of my tournament lineups, but I will be off him in cash games.

Larry Fitzgerald – WR- Arizona Cardinals vs. Green Bay Packers
DK: $7,100, FD: $7,300

A few weeks ago I would have had to think twice about telling you to bench Fitzgerald, but it has come to the point where you have to if you want to win. After a strong start to the season there is no player I can think of who has cooled off more than him. Since the Cardinals’ Week 9 bye, Fitzgerald has one 100-yard game and has failed to reach the end zone. The receivers around him are being targeted more than him and they are out-performing him. In a must-win week for you, Fitzgerald is a must-bench.

Fitzgerald’s cost is too high on both sites to consider playing him in tournaments or cash games. Michael Floyd is a fraction of the price and comes with far greater upside.

Heath Miller – TE – Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens
DK: $3,400, FD: $5,300

The Baltimore Ravens have allowed two touchdowns to tight ends all season. The high-octane Steelers’ offense favors their receivers rather than Miller. There is no reason he should be in your lineup during your Super Bowl this weekend.

Miller is not a viable option in daily games. The Steelers’ have three receivers who contribute too much for Miller to be a factor.
