Shane Bieber has short outing Wednesday

by Carmen Maiorano | Guardians Correspondent | Thu, Aug 16th 9:23am EDT

Shane Bieber tossed just 4 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Reds, giving up seven hits and two walks. That traffic led to just three runs, but with Bieber already at 90 pitches, the Indians decided it was not worth extending his outing. He did strike out five and even walked once in his two plate appearances. The Tribe won, 4-3.

Fantasy Impact:

Bieber is prone to some inconsistent outings as a rookie, but he will be asked to step up with Trevor Bauer out indefinitely. His 4.37 ERA and 1.41 WHIP do not look great, but his underlying stats say that those numbers should come down. He will take his greater than a K per inning rate (71 Ks in 68 innings) into his next start against the Red Sox on the road.
