Stephen Strasburg could make return Tuesday vs. Phillies

by Mike Maher | Fri, Aug 17th 8:50am EDT

Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg recovered well from a 70-pitch simulated game on Wednesday and is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Saturday. If all goes well, Strasburg could skip a rehab assignment and start for the Nationals on Tuesday against the Phillies. (Mark Zuckerman, MASN )

Fantasy Impact:

Nationals manager Davey Martinez had previously said the plan for Strasburg included a minor league rehab start, but he apparently impressed enough in his simulated game for the team to reconsider. Strasburg has been out since July 20 with a pinched nerve in his neck, and the struggling Nationals desperately need him back if they are going to try and make a late run at getting into the postseason. Fantasy owners will be happy to get back Strasburg and his 10.65 K/9, too.
