Dodgers acquire SS Jimmy Rollins

by Stan Son | Wed, Dec 10th 8:51pm EST

The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired veteran shortstop, Jimmy Rollins, formerly of the Philadelphia Phillies. Although the deal has not been officially consummated, it is believed that the Phillies will receive prospects in return. Rollins batted .243/.323/.394 last season with 17 HRs and 55 RBIs. Fantasy Impact:

It's been 7 years since the 36 year old Rollins was named the NL MVP when he hit .296/.344/.531 with 30 HRs, 94 RBIs, and 41 SBs. Those days are long gone. Rollins is owed $11 million this year and is in the final year of his contract. He will be the stopgap until prospect Corey Seager is ready. With the shortstop position being very shallow, Rollins will be a relevant fantasy commodity. Expect a low average, decent OBP, double digit homeruns and stolen bases. The RBIs and runs scored will be dependent upon where Mattingly decides to bat him in the lineup.
