Paul Goldschmidt trade talks with Cardinals heating up

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been engaged in trade talks with the St. Louis Cardinals about a deal involving All-Star 1B Paul Goldschmidt. According to Derrick Goold, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the D-Backs won't grant Goldy and the Cardinals the usual 72-hour window to negotiate a contract extension in order for the trade to go through. Reportedly, the Cardinals were privy to that before entering negotiations, so that probably won't be a major snag as the teams continue to talk. (Derrick Goold on Twitter)
