Ian Kennedy picks up save Saturday

by Matthew Adam | Sat, Mar 30th 7:23pm EDT

Kansas City Royals reliever Ian Kennedy picked up the save on Saturday when he pitched a scoreless ninth, preserving an 8-6 win over the White Sox. Kennedy allowed two hits and struck out one.

Fantasy Impact:

That goes down as the first career save for Kennedy, who operated as a starter for much of his career. Wily Peralta, the preseason favorite to hold the closer's role, struggled on Opening Day and Brad Boxberger, who got the save then, allowed three runs in the seventh inning on Saturday. The Kansas City bullpen is in flux but Kennedy is worth a prospective add in case he is inserted as the team's new closer. Stranger things have happened.
