Jesus Luzardo (shoulder) begins throwing program

by Andrew Seifter | Marlins Correspondent | Tue, Apr 23rd 10:30pm EDT

A's pitching prospect Jesus Luzardo is scheduled to throw at a distance of 90 feet on Wednesday, an initial stage of a throwing program that will likely last four-to-six more weeks before he's throwing in live game action. (Susan Slusser on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The timetable suggests Luzardo wouldn't be able to begin a minor league rehab assignment until late May or early June, and there's no guarantee he'll quickly make his Major League debut after that. Luzardo was excellent in Double-A last season and will be fantasy relevant in all leagues once he does join the A's, but it is hard to justify stashing him right now outside of keeper and dynasty formats.
